The design statutes that have been in place in Osterath for decades are very restrictive and leave many owners little room for manoeuvre when it comes to adapting their homes to modern standards. Whether energy-efficient refurbishment, modern windows or contemporary façade design - many things are only possible to a limited extent or not at all.
As the Meerbusch CDU, we are therefore in favour of fundamentally revising the existing bylaws and carefully opening them up. Our aim is to create more flexibility without losing sight of Osterath's special character and established townscape.
Specifically, we want to ensure that there is more room for manoeuvre in the design of windows, façades, clinker bricks and roofs in future. At the same time, necessary modernisation measures - particularly for energy-related reasons - should be made much easier. After all, climate protection and sustainable construction must not be allowed to fail due to outdated regulations.
It is important to us that where Osterath's historical appearance is particularly distinctive and worth preserving, this should continue to be protected. It is therefore not a case of „anything goes“, but rather a contemporary balance between preservation and further development.
With this initiative, we want to make Osterath fit for the future - for more quality of life, more climate protection and more creative freedom for the citizens.
