The „Wohngut“ group's plans for the careful development of the historically significant „Haus Meer“ site have met with exceptionally broad political approval. It is particularly worth emphasising that the concept, which is sensitively oriented towards the existing floor plans and picks up on the architectural language of the former castle, has met with great approval across all party lines.
It is therefore all the more regrettable that the negotiations between the investor and the landowner could not be successfully concluded despite intensive efforts. This development represents a setback - but by no means the end of the prospects for this important site.
As the Meerbusch CDU, we remain firmly committed to finding a new investor on the basis of the existing and widely supported plans. Our goal remains clear: the „Haus Meer“ site should be developed in a way that does justice to its historical value and also enables a high-quality development that is compatible with Meerbusch.
We are convinced that this special site deserves an equally special development - and we will continue to work actively to utilise this opportunity.
